Once in a while, a client comes along that is so wonderful, you know they’ll shape your experience as an Interior Designer forever. This delightful woman had purchased an adorable mid-century home on gorgeous Lake Washington. And while the house had been recently renovated, it felt dark and masculine, and had a lot of competing design elements going on that just were NOT doing it for this Queen from Texas.
She wanted vibrancy. She wanted color. And she was NOT afraid to stand out in the sea of gray that is Seattle.
Needless to say, we were here for it.
This before and after reveal is a celebration of femininity, pattern, art, and joy. This project took time. So much time. While still battling the beast that was covid delays, we all powered through to create the masterpiece that this lovely southern bell could call home. Very few details went untouched to make this simple structure become a stand out jewel on the lake, even on the most hazy days.
Dining Room
When you walk into this home, this is the first space you see. We were challenged with the task to still allow the view to be the star of the show, but infuse some personality into the space through furniture, decor and architectural selections. It was important that everything worked together to give it that effortless and livable vibe.

Kitchen
The cabinet choice, the backsplash tile, and the floor selection were just competing far too much with one another. We striped it all back while still paying homage to the era of the home. A walnut island with one of the most incredible Quartzite countertops we’ve ever laid our eyes on, surrounded by streamlined, white minimalist cabinets, gave us a timeless palette to layer in color, texture, and some playful architectural elements seamlessly.

King Acrylic Counter Stool | Sigmund Pendant Light | Pink KitchenAid Mixer
Living Room
We wrapped the column so it wouldn’t be such a heavy architectural feature in the space and gave the fireplace a gorgeous facelift. This allowed us to add a lot of color and some beautiful artwork without making this intimate space feel crowded.

His Office
What once was drab and boring became warm and moody. A gorgeous blue-green coat of paint, paired with some stunning flannel drapes created a cocoon of interest for these office furnishings fit for a very design savvy King.

Primary Bedroom
The bedroom was a blank slate, which is wonderful when you’re trying to sell a home! We aimed to still give this client fresh, impactful color, but we also wanted the space to feel both tranquil and ethereal as well. The rug offers texture and interest that doesn’t take away from the incredible peacock blue bed and the drapes are a nod to the water without feeling overly obvious.

Hope Lamp | Natural Linen Duvet | White Linen Sheet Set
Her Office
This is where this client really got to let her “Girly-Girl” flag fly!! The wallpaper gave this room LIFE! She was determined to give her zoom call backdrop a pulse that any design forward zoom call user would appreciate and she did not miss. We put THE MOST comfortable sleeper sofa in this room for guests and provided her with a work from home office that’s ANYTHING but dull.
