We have an easy DIY for you today that you can use on your wedding day or any type of event. We really wanted to incorporate some personal Seattle sentiments into our Finger Lakes, New York wedding. I love collecting postcards from new cities that I visit. I save some, frame some and send some to friends and family. During my first visit to Seattle before we moved here, we bought some beautiful pen and ink post cards from Pike’s Place Market. (Some of you know who you are that received them so many years ago!) We decided that those postcards would make the perfect table numbers.

Once we gathered the post cards from the market, these were so simple to make and put together!

Materials Needed:

  • post cards or any type of black and white illustration or photography
  • tubes of acrylic gouache in color of your choice (I used coral red and shell pink to create the peachy coral color)
  • watercolor brushes
  • palette tray
  • rounded corner cutter
  • place card holders of choice (I used these)
  • watercolor paper (to practice on)

Before I began, I printed out the alphabet and numbers in the calligraphy font that I used on the invitations and paper suite throughout. I practiced the calligraphy to get my hand used to it.

And viola! Simple, inexpensive, but incredibly meaningful table numbers to incorporate into your wedding day. You could even take it a step further by adding witty facts on the back about the bride and groom or some funny mad libs!

Let us know what you think and if you have any simple DIYs that you’d like to share!

xx katie
